Who is Derek Jeter?

by stephanie ~ June 6th, 2009.

Are you a fan of Derek Jeter? (last name pronounced as /dʒi-tər/) If you are, I’d like to share a few interesting info’s about the player. He was born on June 26, 1974. He is currently the captain of the New York Yankees and a nine-time All-star shortstop!

It is soo amazing that he started his career with the Yankees since he was 20 years old, which was in 1995. (No wonder he is the captain now!).

He has won major awards, such as: American League Rookie of the Year Award, Silver Slugger Award and 3 Gold Glove Awards. He is also the 74th player to reach 2,600 hits! And in the very same game, he scored his 1,500th run, which makes him in line with Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Mickey Mantle. They are the only Yankee players to reach that kind of achievement! Pretty remarkable isn’t it?

Recently (well in March 2008 that is), the player launched his new Derek Jeter Pro Baseball 2008 3D game. It is published and developed by Gameloft for mobile phones and the first version was licensed by him.

It can be run on wireless phones that can handle graphic upgrades. It also features 58 game seasons. I even read something funny on the net that, there are just people who collect games just for the mere admiration of games and season simulation. Twisted?! Maybe not, we all just have our hobbies! The game even has baseball tips by Jeter.

I guess developers love launching this kind of game because too much people who are totally crazy about computer games patronize it. Come to think of it! The emergence of PS2’s there, mobile phones here, notebooks and net books everywhere has made everyone who loves technology wild. I don’t think anyone out there does not own one! Probably, a few, but it’s fairly noticeable that most people are just plainly crazed.
